2023 Schedule and Results
January 2023
Elena didn’t have the best of starts to the 2023 tennis season, as she lost in the second round to Marta Kostyuk (7-6, 2-6, 3-6) in the Adeliade 1 tournament and to Petra Kvitova (3-6, 5-7) in the first round of the Adeliade 2 tournament.
At the 2023 Australian Open, Elena reached the singles final, losing to Aryna Sabalenka in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 4-6) – See match highlights below.

February 2023
In February, Elena reached the quarterfinals of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, where she lost to Beatriz Haddad Maia in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 2-6).
At the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, Elena was forced to withdraw from the event due to injury before her third round match against Coco Gauff.

March 2023
Elena reached the final of both WTA 1000 tournaments in March, defeating Sabalenka (7-6, 6-4) in Indian Wells and losing to Kvitova (6-7, 2-6) in Miami.

Elena claimed her second WTA 1000 title of 2023 after her opponent Anhelina Kalinina retired due to a leg injury in the final in Rome.
At the French Open, Elena was forced to withdraw from the competition before her third round match against Sara Sorribes Tormo due to an upper respiratory illness.
