Taylor Fritz Racket – Head Radical MP

Taylor Fritz is currently endorsing the Head Radical MP line of tennis rackets but he actually plays with a customized version of the older Head IG Radical MP model (Pro Stock Code: TGT 260.3), which was originally released in 2012.

Like many other pros, Fritz’s racket is painted to look like the retail version of the Radical MP.

NB: A new version of the Radical MP is expected to be released in February 2023.

Rackets Specs

Fritz’s exact racket specs are not publicly available but it is believed his racket has a strung weight in the 350-360g range, has a head-light balance, an 18×20 string pattern, and a grip size of 4 1/2.

Below are the racket specs for the retail versions of the Radical MP (2021) and IG Radical MP (2012).

What strings does Taylor Fritz use?

Like many top ATP players, Fritz is currently using a hybrid setup with Babolat VS Touch (Natural Gut) strings in the mains and Head Hawk (polyester) strings in the crosses.

Hybrid setups offer players a better balance between control, power, and spin than you would get from just using one type of string.

What Tension Does Taylor Fritz Use?

The general consensus online is that he strings his rackets at a tension of 50-55lbs (22-25.0kg) which is within the recommended tension range provided by Head for the IG Radical MP (48 – 57lbs).

Does Taylor Fritz play with a Vibration Dampener?

No, he doesn’t appear to play with a vibration dampener in his strings.

What is his grip size?

Taylor uses a grip size of 4 1/2 inches (L4 or G4).

Can you buy Fritz’s tennis racket online?

As he plays with a customized version of an IG Radical MP, you won’t be able to buy a racket with the exact same specs as Fritz plays with but you can buy a Radical MP 2021 which shares many of the same specs as the older Xi 98 model.

You can find the Head Radical MP for sale on most good online shops including Amazon.
