Wilson announced a general release date (14th of September 2022) for an updated version of their popular Ultra 100 tennis racket.
The new V4 range of tennis rackets will also include 108, 100L, 100UL, and Team versions.
This article will look at what differences they are between the new V4 and the previous V3 to see if it’s worth upgrading your old V3 racket.

As you would expect, the Ultra 100 V4 and V3 share many similarities as they both have the same head size (100in), racket length (27in), strung weight (318g), balance (4 pts HL), and string pattern (16×19).
In terms of differences, the Ultra 100 V4 (317g) has a slightly heavier swing weight when compared with the Ultra 100 V3 (312g) which is likely to mean the V4 will be less manoeuvrable.
The Ultra 100 V4 (70) also has a lower stiffness rating than the Ultra 100 V3 (73), which should please tennis players who thought the V3 was too stiff.
Probably the biggest change made to the Ultra 100 V4 is the beam width with the V4 having a slightly wider beam width than the V3.
Is it worth upgrading to the new V4 Version?
If you just look at the differences in terms of specs then there doesn’t seem to be huge differences between the V4 and V3 Ultra 100 tennis rackets but in my opinion, the changes they have made to the V4 are positive (lower swing weight and stiffness rating).
However, the jury is still out in terms of whether it is worth spending money on upgrading your old Ultra 100 V3.
