No tournament was held in Basel in 2020 or 2021 so 2022 was the first time in three years that the tournament was played.

The 2023 ATP Basel tennis tournament took place from the 23rd to the 29th of October 2023 with qualifying for the tournament taking place on the 21st and 22nd of October 2023.

The 2023 tournament was played in the same week as the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai, China, and the WTA Tampico Open in Mexico.
