Swedish Open

The Swedish Open (or Nordea Open) is an annual tennis tournament that is played on outdoor clay courts at the Bastad Tennis Stadium in Bastad, Sweden.

A tennis tournament has been held in Bastad since 1948 with previous winners of the singles tournament including tennis greats like Rafael Nadal, Mats Wilander, and Bjorn Borg.

The men’s tournament is at the ATP 250 tour level while the women’s tournament is at the WTA 125 tour level.

Dates

The 2023 Swedish Open tennis tournament in Bastad will take place from the 10th to the 23rd of July 2023 with the WTA 125 tournament being played from the 10th to the 15th of July and the ATP 250 tournament being played from the 16th to the 23rd of July.

The ATP 250 tournament will be played in the same week as the tournaments in Newport, Gstaad, Iasi, Nice, Palermo, and Budapest while the WTA 125 tournament will be played in the same week as the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, and another WTA 125 tournament in Contrexeville, France.

According to the tournament’s official website, tickets for the 2023 tournament in Bastad will go on sale on the 1st of February 2023.

In 2022, there was free admission to watch the first six days of the WTA 125 tournament, so it is likely it will be the same in 2023.

Tickets for the 2022 ATP 250 tournament cost 150 SEK for kids and 250 SEK for adults.

Francisco Cerundolo is the current singles champion in Bastad after beating Sebastian Baez 7-6, 6-2 in the singles final in 2022.

In the 2022 men’s doubles final, David Vega Hernández and Rafael Matos beat Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini in three sets 6–4, 3-6, 13-11.

WTA Bastad

Jang Su-Jeong won the Women’s singles tournament in 2022 beating Rebeka Masarova 3–6, 6–3, 6–1 in the final.

In the 2022 women’s doubles tournament, Misaki Doi and Rebecca Peterson won the doubles title after receiving a walkover from Mihaela Buzărnescu and Irina Khromacheva.
