In the Adelaide International 1, Holger lost to Yoshihito Nishioka in the first round (6-2, 4-6, 4-6), while in the Australian Open, Rune lost to Andrey Rublev in five sets in the 4th round (3-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-7).

At the start of the month, Holger helped Denmark defeat India 3-2 in the Davis Cup, winning both of his singles matches in straight sets.
Holger’s next tournament was at the ATP 250 event in Montpellier, where he lost to Maxime Cressy in the semifinals 5-7, 7-6, 6-7.
His final two tournaments in February saw him get to the second round in Rotterdam and the semifinals in Acapulco.
